The Ebonyi State Government has established an investigative panel to address schools violating the ban on hosting graduation and valedictory ceremonies without official approval.This follows reports of administrators continuing to organize such events despite repeated warnings.The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, led by Mrs.Mary Otozi, expressed serious concerns over the disregard for directives by both public and private school heads.

The ministry reiterated that no institution can conduct these ceremonies without prior authorization, with strict sanctions including license withdrawal and prosecution for violators.Security agencies have been briefed to assist enforcement, and parents are urged to report any unauthorized events.The ban, initially announced in September 2025, also prohibits compulsory extra lessons and writing notes in textbooks.The government emphasizes compliance to ensure accountability and proper regulation in the education sector.
