Final year Kogi health sciences student dies in Lokoja road accident after completing exams

A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a final year student, Ismail Abdulkarim, shortly after he completed his final examinations at the Community Health Department of the Kogi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah.The sad incident happened in Lokoja, Kogi State, around the Felele area opposite the Kogi State Polytechnic.

According to eyewitness accounts, the young man was trying to avoid some wheelbarrow pushers along the roadside when he lost balance and fell into the path of an oncoming articulated truck moving at high speed.He was reportedly crushed instantly, sustaining severe head injuries that led to his immediate death at the scene.The accident occurred on Friday afternoon at about 5:28 p.m.

, and was later confirmed by the Kogi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who also noted that the truck involved had registration number KMC 23 YQ.The body of the deceased was later deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, for autopsy and further procedures.

Family sources revealed that Ismail had just arrived in Lokoja from Idah after completing his examinations and was on his way to visit relatives before the unfortunate incident happened.

His colleagues and classmates expressed deep sorrow over his sudden passing, describing him as a humble, dedicated, and promising young man whose presence positively impacted those around him.The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) also mourned his death, calling it heartbreaking and a big loss to the student community.The incident has thrown the college community into mourning as tributes continue to pour in for the young student.
