Gabriel Pidomson clinches ADC governorship ticket after Rivers State primary election

Former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Gabriel Pidomson, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after a keenly contested primary election in Rivers State.

The exercise was conducted across the 319 wards in the state using the Option A4 voting system, where party members openly lined up behind their preferred aspirants.

The primary election held across the 23 local government areas, with additional party activities producing candidates for senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

After collation of results at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt, the Primary Election Committee Chairperson, Uloho Obaro, declared Pidomson winner with a total of 112,086 votes.

He defeated five other aspirants, including Sokonte Davies who scored 16,872 votes, former PDP governorship aspirant Farah Dagogo who polled 2,369 votes, Leloonu Nwibubasa with 524 votes, and Allen Hart with 260 votes.

The ADC also announced senatorial candidates for Rivers State: Samuel Agwor for Rivers East, Otto Josiah for Rivers West, and Betram Tele Ikuru for Rivers South East, who secured 19,223 votes.Pidomson, a former member of the Rivers State 4th Assembly from Gokana, described his victory as a sacred trust from the people.

He promised a people-oriented campaign focused on development, security, ideas, and transparent governance, while also calling for unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
