The Allahabad High Court has directed the Lucknow police commissioner and district judge to file detailed reports following allegations that three Delhi-based lawyers and their client were assaulted while attempting to pursue judicial proceedings in the Lucknow district court.

The incident, which occurred on July 22, 2026, involved advocates Abhipsa Mohanty, Komal Agrawal, and Ashutosh Srivastava, who claimed they were prevented from filing a vakalatnama for their client Mohammad Shakir by advocate Saurabh Kumar Verma and his associates.The lawyers alleged that they were assaulted, abused, and threatened, with Shakir sustaining severe injuries.

The court emphasized that such actions constitute grave interference with judicial administration and ordered security measures for the advocates during proceedings.A special bench was constituted to address the matter urgently, with CCTV footage and a video clip of the incident presented in court.Previous complaints about similar incidents in Lucknow have led to judicial directives and the formation of a monitoring cell.

The police commissioner stated that Shakir is undergoing medical examination, while the district judge confirmed that some lawyers have been identified from CCTV footage.
