Advocate Andrea Johnson, head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), testified before the Madlanga Commission that she maintained a personal relationship with Crime Intelligence deputy Feroz Khan but denied any influence over her work.

She admitted to limited contact with Khan, who is allegedly linked to the murders of liquidators Cloete and Thomas Murray, and stated their communication ceased around 18 months prior.

Johnson emphasized that IDAC has no authority to investigate such cases, advising victims to escalate concerns through senior South African Police Service (SAPS) management.

She confronted Khan during a workshop after media reports surfaced in late 2024 linking him to the Murray murders, asserting that any criminal activity would be addressed legally.Johnson dismissed the allegations as unsupported, citing lack of concrete evidence such as complainant details or specific incidents.The case remains a focal point in South Africa’s justice system, with Khan allegedly connected to multiple figures in the probe.Johnson is set to continue her testimony at the commission, highlighting ongoing scrutiny over potential corruption ties.
