The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially closed the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for the 2027 general election, urging eligible Nigerians to complete their registration or update voter records before the deadline.The CVR process, which ran in three phases over the past year, concludes on July 26, 2026.

INEC emphasized that participation is mandatory for voting in next year’s elections and highlighted that the exercise allows citizens to register, transfer votes, correct personal details, or replace lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).The final phase of CVR was extended by two weeks to accommodate more voters, with over 6 million registrations completed nationwide.INEC also noted that the first phase recorded 2.5 million registrations, while the second phase saw 3.7 million completions.Citizens are advised not to delay, as registration is essential for voting rights in the upcoming elections.
