The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise on August 1, 2026, to prepare for the upcoming Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The exercise aims to test electoral technology and evaluate the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) under simulated Election Day conditions.Selected polling units across Osun State's three senatorial districts—Osun Central, Osun East, and Osun West—will participate.

In Osun Central, polling units in Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun, and Boripe are included, while Osun East will cover Ilesa-West, Ilesa-East, Oriade, and Obokun.Osun West will involve Egbedore, Ede-North, Ede-South, and Ejigbo.Registered voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are urged to participate.INEC emphasized its commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election, with no actual voting occurring during the simulation.Political parties, media, and civil society groups are assured of transparency in the process.
