Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian scheduled for official visit to Pakistan on Tuesday
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian paid a one-day official visit to Pakistan, where he held meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.
During a joint press conference, Pezeshkian called for greater unity among Muslim countries and proposed the development of a new regional security structure based on dialogue, mutual respect and cooperation among nations of West Asia and the Persian Gulf.He said peace, stability and sustainable development could only be achieved through regional engagement rather than external intervention.
The Iranian president praised Pakistan's role in supporting peace efforts and described the relationship between the two countries as one built on deep historical, cultural and religious bonds.
He highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and economic affairs, and expressed confidence that both countries could create a successful model of solidarity within the Islamic world.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the discussions as highly productive and reaffirmed Pakistan's strong support for Iran.
He stated that Pakistan had acted as an honest mediator in the recent US-Iran peace process and stressed that Iran's success and loss were equally felt by Pakistan.
The premier also clarified that Iran's ballistic missile programme was not included in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and had never been part of the negotiations.
President Zardari reiterated Pakistan's principled support for Iran's peace, sovereignty and stability, while Field Marshal Munir and President Pezeshkian discussed regional peace initiatives and future cooperation.
Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and continue consultations on regional issues, underscoring their shared commitment to peace, stability and cooperation across the Muslim world.
