Benue Governor Updates Tinubu on Security, IDPs, and Political Landscape Post-50th Anniversary
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed that his administration will not allow the demolition of any citizen's property without paying fair and adequate compensation.
He made this commitment during the distribution of compensation cheques to 122 households affected by the 15-kilometre Ring Road project stretching from Danbushiya Junction to Danhono 2 in Millennium City.
According to the governor, while the road project is important for the state's development, protecting the rights and dignity of residents remains a top priority. He explained that after construction started, it became clear that some homes and structures were located within the project's right-of-way.
Rather than continue work without addressing the impact on residents, the government deliberately slowed parts of the construction process to carry out a transparent and equitable assessment of all affected properties and utilities.
Uba Sani stressed that the compensation being paid is not an act of charity but a matter of justice, intended to help affected families relocate, rebuild and continue their lives with dignity. He thanked the beneficiaries for their patience and cooperation throughout the process.
The governor also highlighted previous compensation efforts carried out by his administration across several infrastructure projects in Rigasa, Mahuta, Zaria, Audi, Kako, Dogon Bauchi, Kakiyeyi and the Kabala Costain corridor. He disclosed that the state government has paid more than ₦3 billion in compensation to affected citizens since his administration came into office. He assured residents that future compensation exercises would remain transparent, verifiable, equitable and timely.
Uba Sani concluded by saying that development should always be guided by justice, compassion and integrity, noting that meaningful progress should never come at the expense of the wellbeing of citizens.
