Kenya Kwanza leaders rally in Eldoret to promote government achievements and 2027 re-election bid

Senior Kenya Kwanza leaders, led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah, held a major political rally in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where they rallied support for President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.

The event attracted thousands of supporters dressed in Kenya Kwanza colours, who gathered at the Silverline area to show solidarity with the ruling coalition.

During his address, Wetang'ula defended the government’s performance since taking office in 2022, arguing that it inherited a struggling economy but had since introduced reforms that were beginning to show positive results.

He highlighted several flagship projects, including reduced fertiliser prices for farmers, ongoing affordable housing developments, and major road upgrades such as the Rironi–Malaba highway, which he described as critical for regional trade with Uganda.

Wetang'ula also emphasised the government’s investment in healthcare infrastructure, pointing to the construction and upgrading of major referral hospitals, including a 4,000-bed expansion at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, alongside new Level 6 facilities in Kakamega and Bungoma. He urged residents to embrace unity and reject ethnic-based politics, stating that national cohesion was key to development.

The Speaker further encouraged Kenyans to obtain national ID cards and register as voters ahead of the 2027 elections, calling the voter's card a powerful democratic tool.Other leaders present echoed similar sentiments, praising President Ruto’s leadership and inclusive governance approach. They dismissed opposition calls for a one-term presidency and expressed confidence that the Kenya Kwanza administration would secure another term. The rally also served as a mobilisation platform for political support and voter registration ahead of the next general election cycle.
