Kenya Law Society Announces Boycott of Judges Over Integrity Concerns

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has released a list of judges and judicial officers targeted for a boycott by advocates, starting July 23, 2026.The move comes after months of failed negotiations with the Judiciary over corruption and misconduct allegations.

The boycott, led by LSK president Charles Kanjama, names all six Supreme Court judges, including Chief Justice Martha Koome, and others facing scrutiny.

The action is indefinite until court orders restricting the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are lifted.Advocates are urged to avoid courts linked to suspended JSC processes or halted EACC/DCI investigations.Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi welcomed the boycott, aligning with his stance against the Supreme Court until integrity issues are addressed. The LSK claims the boycott is a lawful protest to push for judicial reforms, following a general strike planned for July 22.This development highlights ongoing tensions between the legal profession and the judiciary over accountability and ethics.
