Kiambu County has recorded its highest-ever own-source revenue of KSh 6.5 billion for the 2025-2026 financial year, marking a more than twofold increase from the KSh 2.9 billion collected in 2022.Governor Kimani Wamatangi highlighted that this growth was achieved without raising existing fees or levies on residents.The county's Finance CEC, Nancy Kirumba, credited automation of revenue collection systems for improving efficiency and reducing leakages.

The funds have been allocated to various projects including 512 new Early Childhood Development Education centres, 32 hospitals, 26 markets, 12,000 solar street lights, and farm inputs for over 750,000 farmers.

This performance has reduced Kiambu's reliance on national treasury allocations, positioning it among Kenya's top-performing counties in resource mobilisation.The county is also set to potentially elevate Thika Municipality to a Smart Industrial City following Senate recommendations.
