BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne has disclosed she has been diagnosed with smouldering myeloma, a rare asymptomatic blood and bone marrow disorder linked to blood cancer.

While the condition is chronic and requires regular monitoring through blood tests, MRIs, and bone marrow biopsies, Laverne confirmed she does not currently need treatment.

She explained that the diagnosis, which is more common in cancer survivors due to heightened monitoring, is not related to her previous illnesses or recent surgery.The 55-year-old broadcaster expressed gratitude to her colleagues, family, and GP, stating she will take a brief holiday before resuming work.This follows her 2024 cancer diagnosis, which was successfully treated.Laverne highlighted the importance of discussing health challenges to support others, emphasizing the value of everyday connections in life.
