A video clip purportedly showing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee engaging in a heated conversation with officials at Kolkata’s Belle Vue Hospital has gone viral on social media, triggering a fresh political debate.

The incident reportedly took place when her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee was undergoing medical attention following an alleged mob attack during a visit to Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district.

In the video, Mamata Banerjee is seen speaking firmly to hospital authorities, including the hospital CEO, and is heard saying that they are being “arrogant,” as per the viral footage.Abhishek Banerjee is also seen lying on a stretcher while medical staff attend to him.

The hospital later issued a statement indicating that there were no serious injuries, mentioning only bruises on the chest and confirming that the patient was conscious, oriented, and did not require admission.

The video quickly became a focal point of political confrontation, with BJP leaders accusing the Chief Minister of pressuring hospital authorities and attempting to influence medical decisions.They alleged misuse of authority, while also criticising the broader handling of the situation.

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee had earlier claimed that hospitals and doctors were being pressured from multiple sides and that threats were being issued to prevent proper treatment of Abhishek Banerjee.According to police reports, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged attack.
