Mamelodi Sundowns secured their second CAF Champions League crown after drawing 1-1 with AS FAR in Rabat and winning the final 2-1 on aggregate.The South African side defended their narrow 1-0 first-leg advantage from Loftus Versfeld and produced a disciplined performance away from home to lift the continental title for the first time since 2016.FAR opened the scoring in the 40th minute through Mohamed Hrimat from the penalty spot after a VAR review awarded the hosts a penalty.The Moroccan side briefly looked capable of turning the tie around in front of a passionate home crowd at Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah.However, Sundowns responded in first-half stoppage time with a crucial equaliser from Teboho Mokoena.

The midfielder finished off an excellent team move involving Brayan Leon, Kutlwano Letlhaku and Tashreeq Matthews, silencing the home supporters and restoring Sundowns’ aggregate lead.In the second half, coach Miguel Cardoso’s side focused on controlling possession and frustrating the hosts.Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams played a decisive role when he saved another penalty from Hrimat in the 76th minute after VAR intervened again.Sundowns’ tactical discipline and defensive resilience ensured they held on for the draw and the title.

The victory marked a major achievement for the club after several near misses in recent years, including four semi-final appearances and defeat in last year’s final against Pyramids.

The triumph also highlighted the impact of new arrivals such as Jayden Adams, Brayan Leon, Nuno Santos and Khulumani Ndamane, who strengthened an already talented squad.
