Montreal police investigate multiple alleged sexual assaults on metro and bus system, seek additional victims

Montreal police (SPVM) are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed to be linked to several alleged sexual assaults that occurred within the city’s public transit network.

The incidents are reported to have taken place during the spring of 2025 and 2026 across multiple locations, including the Peel, Honoré-Beaugrand, and Saint-Michel metro stations, as well as on the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus route 33.

Investigators allege that the suspect targeted individuals while they were using crowded public transit, positioning himself near victims and engaging in inappropriate physical contact, including touching their thighs or buttocks without consent.

In at least one case involving 2026, police say the suspect may also have followed a minor, raising additional concerns about the severity and pattern of behaviour.Authorities describe the suspect as a man in his 30s with a medium complexion, approximately 1.8 metres tall, with black hair and a black beard. He was reportedly seen wearing a dark toque, a red backpack, a beige or dark blue jacket, a black hoodie, jeans, and ochre-coloured shoes.Police have released images of the individual and are encouraging anyone who recognises him or has relevant information to come forward. The SPVM is also seeking to identify additional possible victims, suggesting the number of incidents may be higher than currently reported.

Individuals who believe they may have been affected, or who know someone who might have been, are urged to contact police or Info-Crime Montréal anonymously.Rewards of up to $5,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest, depending on conditions.

The investigation is being supported by Quebec’s coordinated structure for serial crime cases, led by the Sûreté du Québec, to help identify patterns and assist in resolving the case.
