The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has officially released the results of its 2026 national elections, with Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mrs.Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, emerging as the 33rd President of the NBA.She secured 12,317 votes (47.18%) to defeat her closest challenger, Lateef Akangbe, who got 7,934 votes (30.39%), and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, who received 5,855 votes (22.43%).This victory marks Badejo-Okusanya as the second woman to lead the NBA after Priscilla Kuye, who served from 1991 to 1992.

The election, organized by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), saw 26,184 out of 82,172 registered voters participate, representing a 31.86% turnout.

Other key positions were also filled, with candidates like Chief Oghenero Okoro (First Vice-President) and Egya Nuhu John (Second Vice-President) winning unopposed.The results highlight the competitive nature of the presidential race and the significant role of women in Nigerian legal leadership.

The full list of winners includes various roles such as General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, and Publicity Secretary, all determined by the vote counts.This election underscores the importance of the NBA in shaping legal policies and the democratic processes within the Nigerian legal fraternity.
