Yanga midfielder Pacôme Zouzoua begins six-week medical observation after successful surgery
The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has confirmed its continued and expanded commitment to developing football in Tanzania through its sponsorship of the NBC Premier League.
The bank announced new initiatives aimed at strengthening the sport at multiple levels, including youth football development, player welfare, and improved financial support for clubs.
These efforts were highlighted during a trophy presentation ceremony held in Dar es Salaam, where NBC officially handed over the 2025/2026 NBC Premier League trophy to Young Africans SC (Yanga) after their successful season.
NBC representatives noted that since the beginning of their sponsorship, the league has significantly improved in competitiveness and entertainment value, with higher standards of play attracting more fans across the country.
The bank also outlined future plans that include structured youth development programmes, specialised training for players, health insurance coverage for athletes, and financial solutions tailored for both players and clubs.These measures are intended to professionalise Tanzanian football and create long-term economic stability for those involved in the sport.On the sporting side, Yanga secured the league title after a strong campaign, finishing with 75 points following a 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania.This win marked their fifth consecutive Mainland Premier League title.Their closest rivals, Simba SC, finished second with 73 points after a narrow win against KMC FC.The celebrations included a helicopter flyover carrying the trophy across Dar es Salaam, attracting large crowds and adding excitement to the event.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, football administrators, and NBC executives, reflecting the importance of corporate sponsorship in Tanzanian sport.
NBC emphasised its role as a key private sector investor in football, supporting both sporting success and broader economic opportunities within the sports industry.
