The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he unlawfully sold and supplied military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.

According to a statement issued by the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC), the soldier, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, allegedly absconded from his duty post on 3 June 2026 before the matter came to light.

Preliminary investigations by the Army reportedly linked him to the unauthorised sale and distribution of military uniforms, an offence the military described as a serious threat to national security and its operational effectiveness.The Army said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the soldier so that a full investigation can be carried out.It added that any disciplinary action will strictly follow existing military laws if the allegations are eventually established.

The statement also reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline or any activity capable of damaging its integrity or supporting terrorists and other criminal groups.

Military authorities further warned that any personnel found diverting, selling or distributing military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items without authorisation would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.

The Army appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in locating and arresting the wanted soldier.It encouraged anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any recognised security agency.

The Army also reassured Nigerians of its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, stressing that all allegations against its personnel would be thoroughly investigated and anyone found guilty would be held accountable in line with the law.
