The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) national president, Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), has stated that no state governor in Nigeria can legally suspend the union's activities.This declaration came as Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered a suspension of NURTW operations following factional clashes within the union.

MC Oluomo, who inaugurated a seven-member caretaker committee led by Kazeem Oyewale, emphasized that court rulings have consistently rejected attempts to ban the union's activities.

He argued that state governors overstepping their authority by suspending NURTW operations violate legal decrees and federal laws establishing the union.

The crisis began when a faction of NURTW in Osun led by Kazeem Oyewale protested against the leadership of Nurudeen Alowonle, prompting the formation of the caretaker committee to manage affairs until resolution.

MC Oluomo highlighted that the suspension order by Adeleke contravenes court decisions and stressed that the union's activities are national in scope, not confined to state jurisdictions.

The caretaker committee will remain active until all disputes are resolved, including pending issues with INEC regarding electoral materials distribution.This conflict underscores tensions between state governments and labor unions over autonomy and legal authority.
