PFIPC investigation reveals no funds released from N1.3bn budget allocation

The House of Representatives' investigation into the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has revealed that no public funds were released from the N1.3bn allocated to the agency.

The Budget Office of the Federation stated that the council failed to meet statutory conditions for expenditure, despite the National Assembly appropriating the funds in the 2026 budget.Testimonies from officials highlighted that the Budget Office did not create the council or approve its establishment, recruitment, or salaries.Instead, it followed official documents from other government institutions. The council initially requested N3.85bn for personnel costs, but the Budget Office rejected this and conducted its own calculation, resulting in N802,978,783.However, no funds were actually released due to lack of financial clearance and legal approvals.

The investigation also exposed concerns over forged documents and the legal basis for the PFIPC's existence, with officials questioning the authenticity of the purported Act establishing the council.

The committee is now focusing on how these forged documents gained acceptance across government institutions, aiming to uncover systemic weaknesses in administrative verification processes.
