Western Kenya Leaders Encourage Edwin Sifuna to Take Prominent Leadership Role Ahead of 2027 Elections
ODM leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga addressed a large political rally at Kirembe Ground in Kisumu on May 31, where he encouraged members of the Luo community to remain loyal to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather pace.
Speaking before thousands of supporters, Oburu described the Luo community as the foundation of the party and stressed the importance of maintaining that support base.
He noted that the gathering was mainly intended to engage residents of the Nyanza region, particularly the Luo community, while also acknowledging other groups living in the area, including the Maragoli and Kuria communities.
During his speech, Oburu stated that ODM is focused on winning political power in the 2027 elections and warned political rivals that the party intends to compete strongly. He emphasised that enthusiasm alone would not be enough to secure victory and urged supporters to register both as ODM members and as voters.According to him, political influence depends heavily on numbers, making voter registration a critical priority.Oburu further assured attendees that if ODM forms the next government, it will continue representing the interests of ordinary wananchi.
He promised that the party would rely on qualified experts to implement its manifesto and translate its policies into practical government programmes.
The rally formed part of ODM's early mobilisation efforts as the party seeks to consolidate support in its traditional strongholds ahead of the next national elections.
