Field Marshal Asim Munir holds high-level meetings in Turkiye to strengthen Pakistan-Turkiye defence cooperation
Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Syed Asim Munir met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara to discuss regional security, defense cooperation, and strategic partnerships between Pakistan and Turkey.The meeting, reported by Turkish media, highlighted expanding bilateral ties amid evolving Middle East dynamics.Munir arrived in Turkey on Monday, where he was received with a guard of honor by the Turkish Armed Forces.
The talks also addressed enhancing military collaboration, including Ankara's ongoing support for Pakistan's Navy through corvette warships and upgraded F-16 fighter jets.Additionally, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to economic cooperation, targeting $5 billion in bilateral trade.Turkey has also shared drone technology with Islamabad, further solidifying defense ties.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Erdogan pledged to deepen regional partnerships, while Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan mentioned ongoing talks for a trilateral defense pact involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.The collaboration underscores the longstanding strategic alliance between the two nations, rooted in mutual trust and shared geopolitical interests.
