The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting a fresh spell of monsoon rainfall across the country from July 29 to August 5.The rain is expected to affect various regions including Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Balochistan, and Sindh.

The PMD warned that heavy rainfall could lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad.Additionally, landslides are anticipated in KP and GB regions, particularly in Dir, Chitral, Swat, and Murree.The forecast also highlights the risk of flash floods in local streams and hill torrents during the monsoon season.The PMD advised tourists to exercise caution during this period.The rainfall is attributed to monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, with a westerly wave expected to strengthen from August 1.The advisory underscores the need for preparedness as Pakistan continues to grapple with the impacts of heavy rains and subsequent flooding.
