Pakistan maintains firm stance on Israel-Palestine issue amid Abraham Accords discussions

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday emphasised that Pakistan will not change its longstanding position regarding Israel until a fully independent Palestinian state is established.

Speaking at a press conference in Washington after meeting US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Dar stated that Pakistan remains steadfast in supporting Palestine and Gaza.

The discussion was prompted by US President Donald Trump's appeal for Muslim countries, including Pakistan, to join the Abraham Accords as part of a potential peace deal with Iran.Dar clarified that any shift in Pakistan’s stance on Israel is conditional upon progress towards a sovereign Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Marco Rubio praised Pakistan's efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, acknowledging Islamabad's role in facilitating ceasefires between the United States and Iran.Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have contributed to both the first and the latest truces between Washington and Tehran.

He further noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and COAS-CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan has acquired a renewed global identity.

The DPM’s remarks underscore Islamabad’s continued engagement with regional and international stakeholders to support peace initiatives in the Middle East, reinforcing Pakistan’s image as a proactive mediator in complex diplomatic conflicts.
