Rescue operations in Angeles City, Pampanga continue after a building collapsed in Barangay Balibago before dawn on Sunday, resulting in multiple casualties and people still feared trapped under debris.Authorities confirmed that the death toll has risen to five following the recovery of another body from the rubble.The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Central Luzon reported that the latest victim was extracted by a search and rescue team at around 8 a.m.after being located earlier by a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) K-9 unit at approximately 6:18 p.m.on Wednesday.According to responders, a mobile phone was found with the recovered victim, which may help in the identification process.The PCG deployed six K-9 teams to assist in locating survivors or additional remains, with each team composed of trained dogs and personnel.

Earlier reports confirmed that four fatalities were initially recovered from the site, including a Malaysian national among the victims, highlighting the international impact of the tragedy.Authorities estimate that around 15 more individuals may still be trapped beneath heavy layers of concrete and steel.Search and rescue operations remain ongoing, with emergency teams working continuously to clear debris and locate survivors.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla has assured the families of those still missing that operations will not stop until all individuals are accounted for, whether alive or deceased.

The incident has drawn attention to building safety concerns in the area as responders continue their difficult and hazardous recovery efforts amid unstable rubble conditions.
