Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend Iran funeral and visit Türkiye during official foreign tour
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to visit Iran and Turkiye from July 3 to July 5, as confirmed by the Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi during a weekly media briefing.
The visit will include senior members of the federal cabinet, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other key officials.
According to the FO, the prime minister will begin his trip in Iran, where he is expected to attend a funeral ceremony for the late Iranian leadership figure Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is mentioned in the report as having been killed in earlier strikes.
During his stay in Iran, PM Shehbaz will convey Pakistan’s condolences to the Iranian leadership and express solidarity with the people of Iran during what has been described as a period of mourning and grief.
The visit is part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic engagement with regional countries and reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with both Iran and Turkiye.
After completing his engagements in Iran, the prime minister will travel to Turkiye for further high-level meetings aimed at enhancing cooperation in political, economic, and regional matters.
The FO emphasized that the visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with neighboring and friendly countries, especially in matters related to regional stability, trade, and mutual cooperation.
The trip is expected to include discussions on key geopolitical developments, regional security, and economic collaboration between the three countries.
