Police in Dar es Salaam have confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with the killing of Bhaozang Ge, a 50-year-old Chinese businessman who owned and operated the XIL LI plastic manufacturing factory in the Mabibo area of Ubungo District.

The businessman’s body was discovered on the morning of May 18, 2026, inside a drainage trench within the factory compound, after workers arrived for their normal shift and noticed unusual silence and missing security guards.According to statements from the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police, the incident took place in the early hours of May 16, 2026, around 2:00 a.m., when the victim was allegedly attacked inside the factory premises.

Investigations indicate that the suspects, who reportedly included both internal security personnel and accomplices from different regions of Tanzania, planned the attack with the intention of robbing and killing the businessman.Police further reported that all four suspects have confessed to their involvement in planning and executing the crime.The suspects were identified as young men aged between 24 and 30 years, coming from Kilimanjaro, Tanga, and Dar es Salaam regions.Two of them were arrested in Namanga in Arusha Region, while the remaining two were detained in Mabibo area after separate police operations.

Authorities also revealed that approximately Sh9 million in cash was stolen from the factory during the incident, with some of the suspects allegedly spending parts of the money to buy cattle.

Factory employees described a traumatic scene when they discovered the body, noting blood inside the premises and confusion over missing security guards.Police say investigations are still ongoing, and the suspects will be processed through the legal system once the prosecutor reviews the file.

Authorities have assured the public of continued efforts to maintain safety and order in the city while urging cooperation in reporting criminal activity.
