On Saturday, PTI senior leader Asad Qaiser claimed that Punjab police stopped him from reaching Islamabad airport, making him miss his flight to Skardu for the ongoing election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan.This incident follows a similar event where PTI MNA Junaid Akbar and his team were expelled from GB while campaigning for the June 7 elections.

Qaiser, also the secretary general of TTAP, alleged that police closed the entry routes to the airport and kept him under detention until his flight departed.

He described this as political victimisation and an attempt to influence the electoral process in GB, urging citizens to exercise their right to vote freely.Qaiser shared videos showing long queues of vehicles at the airport and interactions with police officials.

PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram criticised the Election Commission for allowing federal ministers to campaign while restricting PTI leaders.Meanwhile, Islamabad police said the airport was not under their jurisdiction.Separately, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique also missed his Skardu flight, blaming Rawalpindi police for obstructing traffic.

He highlighted the inconvenience faced by passengers, including women, children, and the elderly, and criticised airline gate closures before scheduled times.The incidents have sparked discussions on fair access for political parties during election campaigns in GB.
