The Punjab government has successfully transferred ₹1,149 crore directly into the bank accounts of nearly 33 lakh women under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, a women-focused welfare scheme.

Beneficiaries, including SC women who received ₹4,500 in three installments and others getting ₹3,000, praised the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system for eliminating middlemen and ensuring timely financial assistance.Women like Sarabjit Kaur from Gurdaspur highlighted that direct bank transfers prevent misuse of funds and provide flexibility.Over 70 lakh women registered for the scheme, which aims to strengthen financial independence and household decision-making.

Government officials, including Social Security Minister Dr Baljit Kaur, emphasized transparency and inclusion, with Axis Bank supporting the DBT implementation.The initiative is seen as a landmark step in improving welfare delivery and empowering women economically.
