The South African Police Service (SAPS) has established a multidisciplinary team to investigate the murder of Andile Mvuyiselwa Somgaxa, a prominent Gauteng leader of the March and March Movement.Somgaxa was shot in his Johannesburg home on July 3 and died in hospital 10 days later.Acting SAPS National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane condemned the attack, vowing to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.The team was formed in consultation with Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni.The March and March Movement has pledged to continue its demonstrations despite the loss.Dimpane also addressed recent incidents involving alleged immigration enforcement by private groups, emphasizing that such actions are unlawful.Five individuals in Limpopo were arrested for impersonating Home Affairs officials and intimidating a Nigerian business owner.

The Department of Home Affairs confirmed the Nigerian national's legal status, reiterating that immigration checks are the responsibility of law enforcement.SAPS warned that any acts of vigilantism or violence will be met with decisive action.The case highlights ongoing tensions between community groups and authorities over immigration policies.
