Supreme Court says no decision yet on Duterte, Dela Rosa main petition; clarifies TRO opinions to be released
Authorities in Sarangani province successfully arrested a 43-year-old suspected shabu dealer in a carefully planned entrapment operation that notably involved assistance from his own relatives.
The operation took place on May 27, 2026, in Purok Basakan, Barangay Tapon in Glan town, and was conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 12 (PDEA-12) in coordination with units of the Police Regional Office 12 and the Sarangani Provincial Police Office.According to PDEA-12 officials, the suspect was caught after selling approximately 15 grams of shabu worth around P102,000 to undercover operatives.
The suspect had reportedly evaded at least five previous anti-narcotics operations over the past two years, making him a high-priority target for law enforcement.
What made the operation unusual was the involvement of the suspect’s close relatives, who had reportedly grown increasingly embarrassed by his alleged drug activities not only in Glan but also in nearby areas such as General Santos City and Koronadal City.
These relatives eventually provided critical information to authorities regarding the suspect’s movements and the best timing and location for the entrapment operation.
Following the arrest, the suspect was charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and is currently awaiting court proceedings.
Officials from PDEA-12, the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 12, and local government leaders praised the cooperation of the relatives, describing it as a significant example of community involvement in anti-drug efforts.
Authorities emphasized that the case highlights both the persistence of illegal drug activity in parts of Region 12 and the growing role of community members in supporting law enforcement operations.
