Siaya governor James Orengo has reignited political tensions by questioning the unresolved deaths of prominent Luo leaders, including Tom Mboya, linking them to current government actions.

During a rally in Homa Bay, Orengo accused the administration of hiding truths behind historical injustices, citing Mboya's 1969 assassination as a key example.

His claims prompted an immediate rebuttal from Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who dismissed attempts to blame President William Ruto for Mboya's death, noting Ruto was a child at the time.

Omollo criticized Orengo for promoting divisive politics instead of focusing on regional development, highlighting the shift in Nyanza's political landscape following Raila Odinga's agreement with Ruto.

The debate underscores ongoing tensions between pro-government and anti-government factions in Luo-majority areas, with both sides accusing each other of hypocrisy and misinformation.
