The South African government has repatriated over 68,000 foreign nationals since June 2026 as part of intensified operations against illegal immigration and cross-border crime.

Authorities note that delays at the Beitbridge border crossing with Zimbabwe are attributed to Zimbabwean-side congestion rather than South African operations.The government emphasizes fair enforcement of immigration laws while addressing security concerns at some of Africa's busiest land borders.
