The South African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) successfully rescued an exhausted hadeda bird that was entangled in discarded fishing line high up in a tree in Midrand.Inspectors Jerry Seemise and Richman Sibande responded to the unusual call, finding the bird hanging helplessly from the line.The rescue operation involved Seemise climbing a ladder while Sibande assisted from below, carefully cutting away the line to free the bird.After being brought down, the bird took time to recover before flying back into the wild.The incident highlights the dangers of improperly disposed fishing gear, which can entangle wildlife and cause severe harm or death.The SPCA urged the public to dispose of such materials responsibly, emphasizing that small actions can prevent tragic outcomes for animals.
