A 37-year-old man accused of orchestrating the murder of DA councillor candidate Sinovuyo Miranda Dyokwe is set to appear in Cape Town magistrate’s court.The suspect, arrested during a joint operation by provincial detectives and SAPS special task force, faces charges of murder and extortion.Dyokwe was shot dead on June 20 after participating in voter registration activities in Dunoon.Police confirmed the arrest marks a breakthrough in the investigation, linking the suspect to the crime through evidence gathered from public tips.Preliminary findings suggest Dyokwe was subjected to extortion and forced to pay protection money, with threats made after she refused to comply.The suspect was tracked following her voter registration work, leading to his arrest on July 25.Authorities seized a vehicle and seven cellphones during the operation, indicating the investigation is ongoing with more arrests anticipated.Western Cape police commissioner Maj-Gen Luyanda Damoyi commended the detectives for their efforts in solving the case.
