Tanzania and WaterAid UK have pledged to deepen their cooperation to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services across the country.This agreement was reached during the African Development Bank’s annual meetings in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, where a Tanzanian delegation led by Finance Minister Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar met with WaterAid UK officials headed by Robert Kampala.The partnership will focus on strengthening institutional frameworks, implementing practical projects, and scaling up climate-resilient investments.

These initiatives are crucial to ensure access to safe water and proper sanitation, especially in rural areas where communities often rely on unsafe water sources.Climate change poses additional challenges, with unpredictable rainfall and water scarcity making resilient infrastructure a priority.

WaterAid UK emphasizes sustainable solutions, including local capacity building, so that communities can maintain water and sanitation systems independently over time.

The Tanzanian government’s active involvement, including senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, demonstrates the strategic importance of this collaboration.
