The Tanzanian government, in partnership with Barrick Twiga Minerals, has initiated a major education infrastructure project aimed at improving learning conditions across mainland Tanzania.

The initiative involves constructing 1,090 advanced-level secondary classrooms, 270 dormitories, and 1,640 toilet cubicles to accommodate over 45,000 students.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Prof Riziki Shemdoe, highlighted the project's focus on expanding access to Advanced Level education through modern facilities.The collaboration, part of the Barrick-Twiga Future Forward Education Programme, was launched at Kibaigwa Girls Secondary School in Dodoma.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Atupele Mwambene explained that the project stems from discussions between President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Barrick Gold Corporation leadership in 2023, emphasizing investments in education as a strategic priority.The initiative will benefit over 64 schools nationwide, including classrooms with modern furniture, bedded dormitories, and improved sanitation.This marks a significant step in enhancing Tanzania's education system and addressing infrastructure gaps in secondary education.
