In a recent parliamentary session held in Dodoma, Tanzania’s MPs formally recognized President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her notable contributions to sports development in the country.
The motion, led by Esther Bulaya, MP for Bunda Town, highlighted the achievements of the Serengeti Boys, Tanzania’s Under-17 football team, who reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-17 in Morocco and qualified for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The motion emphasized that President Samia’s investment in sports infrastructure and youth programs has been key to fostering athletic talent across the nation.
MPs also noted the success of the women’s football teams, including the Tanzanite Queens U-20 and the senior Twiga Stars, who secured places in international competitions, showing the broad impact of government initiatives.
Parliament unanimously supported the motion, acknowledging that the progress of national teams has not only boosted Tanzania’s international profile but also inspired youth engagement in sports.
The government’s continued commitment to funding training facilities, hiring skilled coaches, and developing grassroots programs is expected to sustain these achievements.
Analysts see Tanzania’s growing sports success as a sign of a promising future pipeline of talent, positioning the country as an emerging force in African sports and opening opportunities for young athletes to compete globally.
