Dar es Salaam – Tanzanian women golfers made strong impression at the 2026 Kenya Ladies Amateur Strokeplay Championship held at Limuru Country Club.Neema Olomi of Arusha Gymkhana Club led the charge, finishing third overall with rounds of 77, 77, and 78 for a total of 232 (+16), proving her skill and consistency.
Her performance solidifies her position among top amateur golfers in East Africa and boosts her chances for selection in the annual World Ranking Championships in South Africa.Olomi praised patience and focus as key factors in her success.
Fellow Arusha Gymkhana members, Madina Hussein Iddi and Aalaa Somji, also delivered excellent results, finishing tied sixth and eighth respectively, giving Tanzania three players in the top 10.
Other Tanzanian golfers, Vicky Elias, Jazila Daniel, and Rachel Mushi, competed well, showing growing strength of the women's game in the country.
Tanzania Ladies Golf Union president, Timea Chogo, described this as a proud moment for Tanzanian golf, highlighting the fighting spirit of the entire squad.
The strong showing sends a clear message to East Africa that Tanzanian women golfers are becoming more competitive and capable of challenging regional rivals.
