The Sunshine Underground, the Leeds-based indie-dance band, have staged their first live performance in nearly a decade at a Manchester venue, ahead of their highly anticipated reunion show at Kirkstall Abbey.The intimate warm-up gig at Gorilla on July 23 marked their return to the stage since their 2016 performance at the Brudenell Social Club.The setlist featured their 2006 debut album 'Raise The Alarm' in full, though rearranged, alongside tracks from their 2010 and 2014 releases.

The band closed their main set with their breakthrough single 'Put You In Your Place' and returned for an encore of 'The Messiah' and 'Raise The Alarm'.

The reunion show on July 25 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, with a full performance of 'Raise The Alarm' and songs from their back catalogue.Supporting acts including White Lies and The Twang will also perform.The band's return has been met with significant anticipation, as their 2016 Leeds shows were widely acclaimed.This event marks a significant moment for the group, who split in 2016 after releasing their final album 'Luminescent'.
