Tomorrowland 2026 Implements Firework Restrictions Due to Wildfire Concerns

Tomorrowland 2026 has implemented restrictions on 'large-scale' fireworks and limited pyrotechnics for its second weekend due to wildfire fears.Belgium remains under a 'Code Orange' wildfire risk level due to extreme heat and dry conditions. The festival organisers confirmed that these measures were recommended by local authorities to mitigate fire risks. The restrictions will apply from the second weekend until July 26, with only the main stage permitted to use controlled T1 and T2 pyrotechnics.High-altitude fireworks, previously used in past editions, will not be employed this year.Daily safety assessments will determine if fireworks can be used.Additional safety measures include a ban on personal barbecues and the provision of communal cooking areas. The decision follows similar cancellations at other festivals, such as Defqon.1 in the Netherlands and Katy Perry's Werchter Boutique performance, due to extreme weather conditions.

Holger Schmidt of the European Festivals Association highlighted the unprecedented scale of the heatwave, stressing the necessity of prioritising visitor safety over event continuity.
