Thieves steal £6,200 worth of designer items from Shoreditch vintage shop during early morning raid

Two thieves carried out a burglary at Bread and Butter Collections, a vintage clothing shop in Shoreditch, London, in the early hours of 28 May.CCTV footage shows the pair arriving on bicycles at around 4:30am before forcing entry by repeatedly striking the shop door until it gave way.One suspect wore a balaclava while the other was unmasked.Once inside, the burglars quickly gathered high-value items, including leather jackets and designer handbags, placing them into bags. After an initial haul, they briefly left the premises to collect additional bin liners, returning approximately 20 minutes later to steal more goods.

In total, items taken included five designer handbags, handmade rings, retro football shirts, caps, and around 15 vintage leather jackets, with an estimated value of £6,200.Audio from the CCTV captured the suspects coordinating their actions, with one urging haste while the other insisted on continuing. The shop owner, Ben Whittle, said he felt “gutted and violated” after reviewing the footage.

He explained that the theft was particularly damaging as the business is preparing to launch a new store and release a football kit line in mid-June, making the financial loss especially difficult.Despite the incident, Whittle noted strong community support and has since reinforced the shop’s security with additional locks.Interestingly, some Arsenal shirts were left behind and later sold during the club’s title celebrations. The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are investigating the burglary and reviewing CCTV evidence. No arrests have been made so far, and authorities have appealed for information from the public.
