The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged two brothers with fraud for allegedly reselling the same piece of land to multiple buyers.The case stems from a petition filed by Mr.Nwachukwu in June 2024 after discovering his 2022 purchase had been resold.Investigations revealed the defendants conspired to collect money from the complainant before reselling the property, leading to criminal charges.During the arraignment, the court ordered both defendants to be remanded at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre pending bail conditions.The brothers were granted bail with varying amounts: N50,000 for one and N500,000 for the other, each with a surety.The EFCC emphasized this case is part of ongoing enforcement actions against real estate fraud across Nigeria.Similar cases have seen properties seized as part of anti-corruption efforts, highlighting the commission's focus on financial crimes.The incident underscores vulnerabilities in property transactions and the need for stricter regulatory measures to prevent fraudulent activities.
