The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has advised higher education institutions to counsel students to focus on academics rather than participating in protests related to recent examination controversies.

In a letter to vice chancellors and directors, AIU President Vinay Kumar Pathak emphasized the need for universities to engage students with empathy while ensuring their academic progress isn't disrupted by protests.

The advisory comes amid ongoing demonstrations at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, where students are demanding examination reforms and accountability.Protests have led to clashes with police, with over 70 protesters detained during a march to Parliament.

The AIU warned that prolonged agitations harm students' academic performance, stressing the importance of addressing concerns through dialogue rather than disruptive actions.
