Vice President C.P.Radhakrishnan, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister C.Joseph Vijay paid tributes to noted social reformer Rettamalai Srinivasan on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Paying floral respects in New Delhi, the Vice President described Srinivasan as a distinguished scholar and an eminent social reformer whose lifelong struggle against untouchability remains unparalleled.

Governor Arlekar, through a message posted on X by the Raj Bhavan, remembered Srinivasan as a visionary leader who devoted his life to the upliftment of oppressed communities and the advancement of social justice.

The Governor said Srinivasan's efforts to secure equality, dignity and inclusive progress continue to inspire future generations and remain an important part of the nation's social development.Chief Minister C.

Joseph Vijay also paid homage through a post on X, calling Rettamalai Srinivasan a pioneer of social justice and a powerful advocate for the rights of the oppressed.

He said Srinivasan's commitment to education, self-respect, equality and social justice continues to guide society and urged people to uphold these ideals while working towards a Tamil Nadu founded on equality and humanism.In Chennai, Ministers Aadhav Arjuna, P.Venkataramanan, Vanni Arasu, N.Marie Wilson and R.Kumar, along with Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi president Thol.Thirumavalavan, paid floral tributes to Srinivasan's portrait at Guindy.Separately, the Chief Minister expressed condolences over a road accident near Panruti in Cuddalore district that claimed four lives.

He announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund, including ₹3 lakh each for the families of those who died, ₹1 lakh each for seven seriously injured persons undergoing treatment, and ₹50,000 for one person who sustained minor injuries.
