Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has officially resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in Nigeria.

In a resignation letter addressed to the APC Ward 4 chairman in Onicha-Olona, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Ochei stated that his decision takes immediate effect.The letter, dated May 8, 2026, was made public on May 28, 2026.In his message, Ochei explained that the decision came after careful reflection and personal consideration.

He expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity to serve and be associated with it over the years, noting that he valued the relationships, experiences, and political exposure he gained while in the APC.He also thanked party leaders and members for their support, cooperation, and goodwill throughout his stay.

Ochei, who joined the APC in 2016 after earlier political involvement under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also released a separate statement highlighting his contributions to the party.

He said that during his time in the APC, he worked with others to build political bridges, encourage youth and women participation, and support democratic growth and engagement within Delta State and beyond.

Explaining further, he stated that political institutions must continue to evolve in order to reflect fairness, inclusion, and the aspirations of citizens.

According to him, his resignation is driven by a desire for broader political growth and alignment with his personal convictions, rather than bitterness or conflict with any individual or group.Although he did not disclose his next political move, Ochei urged his supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and focused on democratic values.

He assured that he is leaving the party with hope, renewed determination, and continued commitment to public service and the political future he envisions for his people.
