In a tragic incident on Sunday night in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority Phase 6 near Saba Avenue, a speeding car lost control and crashed into a tent set up for a religious gathering at an imambargah.
The accident resulted in injuries to 11 people, and sadly, a minor girl who was among the injured passed away on Monday while receiving treatment at a private hospital.According to police officials, the vehicle first hit some pedestrians before ploughing through the canopy structure.DIG South Asad Raza confirmed the girl's death and stated that seven victims are still under treatment at two different hospitals.SSP South Mehzor Ali mentioned that the driver and two other persons were taken into custody immediately after the event.Police have registered a case under sections related to terrorism and attempted murder based on the complaint from the imambargah security in-charge.CCTV footage of the crash shows the car moving at high speed around 9:26pm before it veered off and caused the chaos, with people rushing to safety.Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken serious notice of the matter and ordered a detailed probe from the Additional IG Police.Initial briefing suggested possible brake failure, but full investigation is ongoing to check if it was mechanical issue or driver negligence.The CM also directed to impound the vehicle and arrest the driver promptly while praying for the quick recovery of the injured persons.This unfortunate event has highlighted road safety concerns in busy areas of the city during religious events.Authorities are working to ensure justice for the victims and prevent such incidents in future.
