David Maraga signals possible alignment with Linda Mwananchi ahead of Gusii political rallies
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has publicly responded to Saboti MP Caleb Amisi following his continued criticism of the Linda Mwananchi movement, urging that such disagreements should be handled through internal dialogue rather than public confrontation.
Babu argued that airing internal political differences on social media or public platforms risks weakening the unity and effectiveness of the movement, which he says is focused on defending the interests of ordinary Kenyans.
According to Babu, leaders within the movement already have established channels for resolving disputes and concerns, and therefore Amisi should take advantage of those structures instead of making repeated public remarks.
He referred to Amisi in a familiar tone, calling him “my brother,” and insisted that constructive engagement among leaders would be more productive for the opposition-leaning outfit.
The Embakasi East lawmaker also defended the direction and leadership of Linda Mwananchi, stressing that its core agenda remains centred on advocating for citizens’ welfare and political reform. He warned that ongoing public criticism could create unnecessary divisions and weaken the collective push for change.
The exchange follows earlier remarks by Caleb Amisi, who had questioned the direction of the movement, arguing that it was drifting away from its original mission and becoming too closely aligned with the political establishment it initially opposed.
Amisi has also maintained that the platform was meant to be issue-driven and inclusive of emerging leaders rather than a vehicle for personal political battles.
Babu, however, insisted that unity remains essential, and that leaders must prioritise dialogue and cohesion if the movement is to remain relevant and effective in Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
