The Federal Government has revived 16 abandoned digital e-library projects in Federal Unity Colleges as part of efforts to modernize public schools and promote tech-driven learning.Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, commissioned a newly upgraded digital e-library and innovation hub at Federal Government College (FGC), Kano.

The facility is equipped with solar power, air conditioning, modern lighting, and 80 computer workstations to support teaching, learning, and research.

Alausa highlighted the Tinubu administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality digital education, noting that the government inherited 36 abandoned e-library projects but has completed 16 through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).Digital infrastructure remains central to the education reform agenda, with pledges of continued investment in tech-enabled learning.

During the visit, Alausa inspected a bilingual school in Ungogo, which is 90% complete, and directed officials to start recruiting teachers for its September opening.The bilingual school program aims to address the out-of-school children crisis by integrating Almajiri and vulnerable children into formal education.

Over 1 million out-of-school children have returned to classrooms in the past 24 months through reforms under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative.
